Nurse Training Program

Trilochan Netralaya has a unique Paramedical (Nurse) Training program to address two major problems.

  1. There is an acute shortage of trained nurses to provide basic care to patients which doesn’t require a doctor.
  2. There are a lot of school and college dropout girls, mostly from villages, who for economic or family reasons choose to discontinue their studies.
This innovative program identifies and enrolls these girls into its Mid-Level Ophthalmic Personnel (MLOP) program. This program is affiliated with the National Council of Vocational Research & Training (NCVRT), New Delhi. Participants receive certified paramedical training in eye care and are offered employment at Trilochan Netralaya upon completion. By providing these girls the ability to earn a livelihood, TN lifts them out of a life of poverty and dependence, while building local capacity for community eye care.

 Partnership with IASF

Sponsoring the Nurse Training Program

IASF provides scholarships to cover the boarding and training expenses for selected girls, based on available funds.

For the 2024-2025 batch, IASF is sponsoring 14 students. The selection process is conducted by Trilochan Netralaya from the pool of applicants. IASF or donors can also refer specific students, if they know of any suitable candidates.

Smart Classrooms for Digital Learning

In partnership with Aveti Learning, TN is delivering digital educational content for Grades 11 and 12, as well as for nursing students. This initiative benefits over 100 students by enhancing classroom instruction with clinical videos and interactive learning tools. Teachers use the smart classrooms to enrich the educational experience and accelerate learning outcomes. IASF has sponsored one digital classroom and has committed to funding a second after one year.

Together, TN and IASF are advancing healthcare and education for underserved communities in Odisha.
